Drama Success and Camp Growth
Drama Success and Camp Growth
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has once again highlighted the extraordinary commitment our staff show to your children both inside and outside the classroom. Our Stage 5 Drama students performed Stories in the Dark , an original production they created from start to finish - set, script, staging, and program. Their moving and mature performances reflected the inspired leadership of our Drama teacher, Ms Kat Schuil, and followed recent success with OnSTAGE nominations in the HSC.
At the same time, Year 5 enjoyed a wonderful camp at Vision Valley, where students grew in confidence, independence, and teamwork. These experiences only happen because our staff give so generously of their time and energy, building strong relationships through acts of service.
Whether guiding students through a complex performance or supervising them on camp, our staff embody the truth of Matthew 11:19, that “wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” The relationships formed through shared experiences become the foundation on which deep learning is built.
Thank you for your continued support as we journey toward the end of term.
With gratitude,
Louis Stringer
Headmaster

Year 3 and 4 Genius Hour Showcase
Year 3 and 4 Genius Hour Showcase
Over the past two terms, our Year 3 and 4 students have been taking part in Genius Hour , a project inspired by Google’s practice of giving employees dedicated time to explore a passion project and think divergently. We adopted the same idea in our classrooms: students chose something they were genuinely curious about and spent time each week researching, experimenting and creating.
On Thursday 13th of November, the classrooms were opened for the students to showcase their projects. Students stood proudly beside their projects, explaining what they learned and how their ideas grew over time. Each project was different, reflecting the unique interests of the child who created it.
It was lovely to see so many family members come along and take the time to engage with the students’ work. The thoughtful questions and encouragement meant a great deal to our students.
Thank you to our families for your support across the two terms, and congratulations to our Year 3 and 4 students for their hard work, creativity and perseverance. It was wonderful to see what they achieved.

Finding Our True Identity
Finding Our True Identity
As we grow and discover who we are, each of us shapes an identity in different ways. Some of us see ourselves as athletes, others as musicians, leaders, or scholars, to name a few. These gifts and passions are good and valuable they help us understand how we fit into the world and how we can contribute to our community. But they are not the deepest, truest thing about who we are.
The Bible reminds us that our identity is ultimately rooted in something far more secure: we are made in the image of God, and for those who follow Jesus, we are being shaped to reflect Him more and more. Our worth doesn’t come from what we achieve, how talented we are, or how well we perform. Instead, it comes from the God who created us, loves us, and calls us His own.
This message is especially important at the end of the year, when assessments and results can feel like a measure of our value. Working hard and striving to achieve your potential in exams is a good and honourable thing it reflects dedication, growth, and a desire to use your abilities well. Doing your best matters. But even this is not ultimate. Your results can show what you’ve learned, but they cannot define who you are.
God doesn’t require perfect performance for you to matter to Him. He sees you fully, knows you completely, and values you deeply, regardless of your achievements. He doesn’t love you because you succeed; He loves you because you belong to Him.
So as we reflect on our efforts, our assessments, and our accomplishments, let’s also remember where our ultimate identity lies. We were made by God and for relationship with Him. Everything else our talents, our roles, our successes is secondary. They are gifts to enjoy and develop, but they are not the foundation of who we are.
In Jesus Christ, we find an identity that is steady, secure, and unchanging an identity not built on performance, but on grace.

Director of Secondary.

PRIMARY - At OAGS we are always thrilled to be able to share the gospel with our students. Each week students are given the opportunity to come to CRU in their break time to hear God's word, sing together and play games.
This term has been so encouraging with an average of 40-50 students in Infants and Primary coming to our lunchtime groups. Last week in our MEGA CRU, where we joined Infants and Primary together, we excitedly had over 100 students come and join in the fun. The Primary CRU team, which includes Teachers and senior students are an incredibly willing and servant hearted team, giving up their break times to share the good news with our students.
We are so encouraged by what God is doing in the hearts and minds of our students and praise him for his faithfulness in our school.

Spectacular. Astounding. Entertaining. Captivating. These are just a few of the adjectives that describe the performances at OAGS OnStage 2025. All of the performers gave their all in front of a packed house of enthusiastic audience members. Creative artists had their works on display in the foyer for all to see and everyone was supported by a fantastic back stage crew. A huge thank you to all of the teachers and OAGS staff who supported the event through the day and into the night.
The pictures say it all.

The Titans, an U6s mixed touch team kicked off the season shy, cheeky, and still figuring things out. Now they’re tuned in, listening, and giving every drill a proper go. Their skills, confidence, and teamwork have all levelled up heaps. It’s been great seeing how much they’ve grown and how hard they try each week. Coaches - Maddie and Darcy
The U 8 Panthers have improved a lot since the start of the season whether it was finding new skills or just improving old ones they have all improved in their skills. And we think that they have had a lot of fun whilst doing it. Coaches - Alby and Angus
The U11 Broncos girls’ touch football team has shown exceptional progress and performance throughout the season. Their commitment to training, strong teamwork, and developing skills has been evident in every match.
What truly sets this group apart is their attitude. The players support one another, communicate effectively, and show resilience in challenging moments. Their sportsmanship and enthusiasm have created a positive team culture that reflects passion for the game.
With the season still underway, the U11 Broncos girls have already established themselves as a talented and hard-working team. If they continue on this trajectory, they are on track for an excellent finish. Coaches - Pippa and Annabel

OAGS Sports Academy Awards Night 2025
OAGS Sports Academy Awards Night 2025
What an incredible evening we had on Monday, 27th October, celebrating the outstanding achievements of our athletes at the OAGS Sports Academy Awards!
We were truly honoured to have Sophie Fawns as our guest speaker. Sophie shared her inspiring journey from playing with the NSW Swifts at just 18 years old to now representing Manchester Thunder. Her honest and heartfelt message about determination, resilience, and the importance of running your own race, not comparing your journey to others, resonated deeply with everyone in the room. Sophie's words were a powerful reminder to our young athletes that perseverance through challenges is what shapes true champions!
The night was filled with pride as we recognised excellence across our academy:
Extracurricular Team Awards (MVP & Coaches Awards)
Player of the Year
Student Coach of the Year
Program of the Year
Teams of the Year
HICES, AICES & CIS Team Representatives
Excellence & Encouragement Awards
All Rounder Awards
Sports Ambassadors for 2026
Primary & Secondary Sportsperson Nominations
Congratulations to all our award recipients and nominees—your dedication, sportsmanship, and passion make us incredibly proud!

From Frizzles to Future Farms: Agriculture Classes Gear Up for the New Year
From Frizzles to Future Farms: Agriculture Classes Gear Up for the New Year
With the exams done and dusted, it’s now time for the agriculture classes to get stuck into the maintenance jobs around the school and, believe it or not, getting ready for 2026.
Mrs Nealon and her amazing Year 7 crew have a batch of super cute and slightly permed Polish Frizzles they have raised, along with some Aracuna Easter Eggers. This should certainly spice up the poultry unit next year!
The 100-hour Ag class put some muscle in the game as the school fills the sheds with fresh hay to get us through next winter, putting a couple of hundred small bales away in the hayshed. These students are busy thinking about their Project-Based Learning opportunity for next year and how they will grow and market their project from inception to final product - student choice is key here.
In 200 hours, the team has set up the aquaponics to run a little more smoothly with fresh plumbing and insulation, all while visiting Rodedale Farm in preparation for the 2026 year ahead.
Our new Year 12 class is ready for the senior Ag tour next week. This is a very exciting opportunity for our students to see some of Australia’s leading agricultural operators in action in the Lachlan irrigation area.
And with the Royal Canberra Show happening Week 3 of Term 1, preparations have already started with both sheep and cattle teams attending next year. This includes breaking in our White Suffolk Sheep and putting our ram onto a managed diet to maximise his performance and growth.
The Agriculture team have also voted for a new look with a note emailed to parents this week for students to order the new show shirt and vest. This will really pop against the OAGS orange and looks very professional.

New outdoor seating donated by P&F
New outdoor seating donated by P&F
Thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends (P&F) Association for their recent donation of eight outdoor tables and a large, square bench seat for our students to enjoy.
The new seating is located under the chestnut trees and near the Thrive Centre and will provide the ideal spot for our students to enjoy lunch, socialise with friends and relax at break times.
The P&F volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout the year, running a large number of fundraising initiatives including the second hand clothing store and Easter Fair. Through their efforts, they have successfully raised the $20,000 required to purchase the furniture. This is an incredible achievement and is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our P&F volunteers.
As a school community, we place great value on service and generosity and it is inspiring to see these values being reflected in the work of our volunteers.
We are sure that the bench seats will be enjoyed by students for many years to come.
If you would like to learn more about the OAGS P&F or would like to volunteer, please email [email protected]
